In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must plan to major in music or art.
  4. Must be a resident of Dutchess County, New York.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Description: This award is available for U.S. students who are graduating from a high school in Dutchess County, New York. Applicants must plan to pursue a college degree in music, music education, art, or art education.

Additional Information: Established by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce to encourage the pursuit of music in education, this scholarship is available to any graduating high school senior who is a resident of Dutchess County and planning to pursue a college degree in music performance or music education at an accredited college or university in the United States.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of the Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
