Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually, one in spring and one in fall.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have a physical, emotional, or learning disability.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be an undergraduate student or graduate student at the time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate students who have a physical, emotional, or learning disability. To apply, applicants must submit an original essay describing what he or she has learned from studying and creating a business plan.

Application requirements for the Business Plan Scholarship for Students with Disabilities are:

Additional Information: This scholarship is open to students with any type of disability, including but not limited to physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental and psychiatric conditions, speech and language, learning disabilities, behavioral conditions, and all other disabling conditions. Essays will be judged by David Waring and Marc Prosser, the co-founders of Fit Small Business, based on the originality, writing style, and quality of ideas.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Information about this award is available online at the Fit Small Business website using the link provided. Applications will be accepted between Jan. 1 and April 15 for the spring semester, and between Aug. 1 and Nov. 15 for the fall semester. To be considered for this award, applicants must submit an original essay of between 500 to 1,000 words in response to the topic of this year's contest: "What I learned from writing a business plan." Essays must be submitted by email to [email protected] with the following subject line: "Business Plan Scholarship Application." The email must also contain the name of the applicant's school, anticipated major, expected date of graduation, and the nature of his/her disability. All essay submissions must be received no later than the deadline date.
