Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must major in public relations, journalism or communications.
  3. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  4. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
  5. Must plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university as a full-time student (12 credits per semester for undergraduate; 9 credits per semester for graduate).
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must intend to pursue a career in public relations.
  8. Must be a college junior, senior or a graduate student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Hawaii college juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are majoring in public relations, journalism or communications, and intend to pursue a career in public relations. Students must have a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.

Additional Information: The PRSA Hawai'i/Roy Leffingwell Scholarship was established in honor of the late Roy L. Leffingwell, APR, who retired in 1989 after more than 43 years of public relations service in Hawai'i. He founded International Public Relations, Hawaii's first full-service counseling firm and was active in public relations organizations including the National Association of Public Relations Counsel, one of the two organizations that merged to form PRSA. He was a former chapter president and 1993 Professional of the Year. All applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
