Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to work in the library and information technology field.
  3. Must attend an institution accredited by the American Library Association (ALA). A list of eligible schools is available at www.ala.org/accreditedprograms/directory/search .
  4. Must pursue a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree. The student may not have earned more than 12 semester hours toward the MLS degree prior to June 1 of the award year.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Graduate students who have completed no more than 12 hours in an approved Master of Library Science (MLS) program while attending an ALA-accredited school are eligible for this award. Eligible students must plan to follow a career into the library and information technology field.

Additional Information: Three major factors are considered in awarding these scholarships: academic excellence; leadership; and evidence of commitment to a career in librarianship. Economic need is considered when all other criteria are equal. The Christian Larew Scholarship Committee reviews the applications and selects the scholarship winner. Recipients will be contacted by phone after June 1. All other applicants will be notified by mail after July 1. The winner is announced and introduced, if present, at the LITA President's Program during the Annual Conference of the American Library Association.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.
