Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in an eligible educational program.
  5. Must be pursuing an aviation maintenance technician program (A&P) or an aviation maintenance technology degree.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. students who are currently enrolled in an aviation maintenance technician program (A&P) or a degree in aviation maintenance technology. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Candidates will be evaluated on academic standing, personal accomplishments, teamwork, leadership skills, and community service involvement. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. Attendance at the conference is not required to receive a scholarship, but it is encouraged.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the Women in Aviation, International (WAI) website. A complete application packet must include three stapled sets of the following (one original and two copies): a completed application form; two recommendation letters of one page each; a 500-word typed, descriptive essay; a professional resume; and copies of all aviation licenses and medical certificates, and the last three pages of the applicant's pilot logbook, if applicable. Please note: The descriptive essay and resume should address the topics listed online at www.wai.org/education/guidelines.cfm. A separate application packet must be submitted for each scholarship for which the student wishes to apply. Students may apply for a maximum of two scholarships per year. Application packets must be submitted online or sent to the address provided and be postmarked by the deadline date.
