  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be planning for a career in landscape architecture.
  3. Must be a current graduate student studying at a U.S. institution.

Description: Current college students who are pursuing a graduate degree at an American institution and are planning a career in landscape architecture are eligible for this award. The award is granted to one student to assist with study and research.

Application requirements for the Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design are:

Additional Information: The student's project study should have a wide scope, such as investigating new techniques of garden restoration; studying how small gardens created by community groups have impacted public gardens; exploring and documenting physical, emotional and spiritual healing properties of the garden; and instigating the development of gardens that use ecological and regenerative concepts. These are only a few of the many topics available to interested applicants. Selection criteria will include the degree to which the proposed fellowship work addresses Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF) and Garden Club of America (GCA) objectives, as well as the excellence of the student's academic qualifications and person. The purpose of the GCA is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening; to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondences and publications; and to restore, improve and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.
