Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. An individual who has applied for permanent residency but has not received her government documentation by the time of application are not eligible.
  3. Must conduct research at either Duke University Medical Center or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. The applicant must be nominated by one of the two schools.
  4. Must have completed one or more years of medical school prior to the start of the award and be interested in pursuing health-related research projects.
  5. Must be a woman.
  6. Must enroll full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. female medical students who have an interest in health-related research are eligible for this award. Students must have completed one or more years of medical school and plan to conduct research at Duke University Medical Center or UNC at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.

Additional Information: These awards will support female medical students who are interested in pursuing health-related research projects. Students must have an interest in health research, and must have the support of a faculty mentor. Selection is based on a number of factors. These factors include the candidate’s qualifications, the quality and relevance of the proposed health research, and the interest and support of the student’s scientific mentor. Consideration also will be given to the institutional environment. Institutions should provide evidence that they are committed to research in the areas in which the student will work and that they are willing to provide appropriate mentoring for the student.

Award Amount: $10,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
