Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships offered varies based upon available funding. Last year, seven scholarships were awarded.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. students who are children of a career or volunteer emergency medical technician (EMT), paramedic, or firefighter (active, formerly active, retired or deceased) and are interested in a career in emergency medical services (EMS).

Application requirements for the Legacy Scholarship Program are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter (2)
Additional Information: Students must plan to attend a state approved EMT basic certification program or increase their level of certification through an EMT intermediate or paramedic program. Recipients who do not complete the program will be expected to return the award.

Award Amount: Up to $500 for an EMT-B program and up to $2,000 for an EMT-I or EMT-P program.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,250.
