Women's Transportation Seminar - Los Angeles Chapter

Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a current graduate student to apply for this award.
  4. Must be a female.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  6. Must be currently enrolled in a transportation-related degree program, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics, OR in an environmental planning and science degree program.
  7. Must be enrolled in a school in Los Angeles County or have residency in Los Angeles County.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. female graduate students enrolled in a Los Angeles County institution or residing in Los Angeles County who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must be currently enrolled in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics, or in the field of environmental planning and science.

Application requirements for the Myra L. Frank Memorial Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Proof of enroll.
Additional Information: The Myra L. Frank Memorial Graduate Scholarship was established in 2005 by the Los Angeles Chapter of WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation. The scholarship is competitive and applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: transportation career goals, academic record including curriculum and grades, commitment to transportation as demonstrated by extracurricular activities and/or work experience, writing skills, and the recommendation. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

Award Amount: One award for $10,000 annually, and one award for $7,500 annually. Both awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,750.
