Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately one to two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is available for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
  3. Must be an Alaska Native and/or Native American.
  4. Must be enrolled in one of the following programs with plans to work in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.): a M.A.C.E. (Master of Arts, Christian Education) program; or a M.Div. (Master of Divinity) program. M.Div. students in their first or second years must be enrolled as inquirers or candidates by Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) presbyteries before the application deadline to be considered for an award; students in their third year must be candidates. M.A.C.E. students are not required to be inquirer/candidate, but must be recommended by the Committee on Preparation for Ministry.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must be enrolled full time.
  7. Must have been awarded the Presbyterian Study Grant and have remaining financial need.
  8. Must attend a theological seminary related to or in covenant with Presbyterian Churches (U.S.A.). The following schools are eligible: Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Columbia Theological Seminary, University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, McCormick Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, San Francisco Theological Seminary, Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Auburn Theological Seminary, and Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico.
  9. Must be working on obtaining his/her first graduate degree. Students who already have one of the eligible degrees and are working on another are not eligible for this scholarship.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. graduate students who are in their first year of study, are Alaskan Natives or American Indians, and are members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Students must be enrolled in one of the following programs with plans to work in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.): a MACE (Master of Arts, Christian Education) program; or a M.Div. (Master of Divinity) program.

Additional Information: The Native American Supplemental Grant is part of the Theological Grant and Loan Program. This program is for theological students preparing to serve in a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation. Students must demonstrate financial need. Only students eligible for award will be submitted to the Presbyterian Study Grant reading committee. The PSG reading committee will consider the merits of eligible students and select students for award. Approximately 150 students will be awarded with graduate grants. If the student is eligible for a supplemental award the supplemental award will be determined by staff after the Presbyterian Study Grant has been awarded. The Racial Ethnic and Native American Supplemental Grants may not be used to replace any portion of the Presbyterian Study Grant.

Award Amount: $500 to $1,500 annually, renewable for up to three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
