Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a permanent resident of OR a student in the state of Kentucky.
  3. Must be entering his/her second year at an accredited two-year college in the upcoming fall semester/term and will have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of the current semester/term; OR be entering his/her third year at an accredited four-year college or university in the upcoming fall semester/term and will have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours by the end of the current semester/term; OR be entering his/her fourth year at an accredited four-year college or university in the upcoming fall semester/term and will have completed a minimum of 90 credit hours by the end of the current semester/term; OR be entering any year of graduate study in the upcoming fall at an accredited four-year college or university.
  4. Must be a full-time student.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  6. Must be enrolled in a travel and tourism- or hospitality-related program of study. If a graduate student, the applicant must also demonstrate a clear focus on and commitment to the tourism subject area.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who reside or are students in Kentucky and are enrolled in a travel and tourism- or hospitality-related program of study. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The Tourism Cares Scholarship awards are based on merit and awarded through a competitive process. The Academic Scholarship Selection Committee makes their selections based on academic performance, extracurricular and volunteer activities and experiences, motivation, and leadership potential. The recipient will be notified in late May, and the award will be distributed in the summer.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. Past recipients may apply again as long as they continue to meet eligibility criteria and application is made in a different calendar year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
