Number of Awards & Eligibility: Twenty awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
  4. Must plan to major in foreign affairs.
  5. Must be a minority student.
  6. Must be accepted to or enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship is available to minority students who are pursuing a graduate degree in foreign affairs. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and demonstrate financial need.

Application requirements for the Rangel Graduate Fellowship are:

  • Personal statement
  • Application form
  • Nomination
  • Recommendation letter
  • Official Transcript
  • Proof of Citizenship
  • GRE or GMAT Scores
  • Student Aid Report (SAR)
Additional Information: The Rangel Graduate Fellowship is a program that aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service in which they can help formulate, represent and implement U.S. foreign policy. This program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those with financial need. Fellows who successfully complete the program and Foreign Service entry requirements will receive appointments as Foreign Service Officers, one of the most exciting and rewarding careers available.

Award Amount: This award provides funding for two years of graduate school expenses, as well as assistance with placement as a Foreign Services Officer.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $60,000.
