Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in a mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related baccalaureate program.
  3. Must enroll full time.
  4. Must be a college junior or senior in the upcoming academic year.

Description: This award is available for international and U.S. college sophomores and juniors who are enrolled full time in a mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related baccalaureate program in the United States. Students must demonstrate financial need.

Additional Information: In memory of Garland Duncan, former Chairman of the Palm Beach Section, Region XI Professional Development Chairman, member of the National Nominating Committee and Church Medal recipient, a scholarship fund was established in 1993. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited school for the upcoming academic year. Information regarding accreditation status is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx. Applicants also must have established a grade point average in their degree programs to qualify. If applicants have not established a grade point average at the college level, they are not eligible to apply. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of leadership, scholastic ability, potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession, and financial need. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship results between June 15 and July 1. Scholarship money will be sent to scholarship winners by the end of August.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.Scholarship awardees from past years will not be selected to receive additional scholarships. Students must apply again each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
