Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately seven awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in New Orleans, LA.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be pursuing education to further a career in welding.

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate students who are residing in New Orleans and pursuing a career in welding or a related field.

Application requirements for the Shelton L. Ritter Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: This scholarship is sponsored by the New Orleans section of the American Welding Society, and named in honor of Shelton L. Ritter. Each year, local area students with an interest in pursuing a career in welding will be eligible to apply for this award.

Award Amount: $1,250 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,750.
