In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of entry.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must reside in Tennessee, Arkansas, or Mississippi.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. high school seniors who reside in Tennessee, Arkansas or Mississippi who plan to attend an accredited institution of higher education. Students must submit an essay of 900 to 1,000 words to qualify.

Additional Information: The Bird Dog Foundation, Inc. has established a scholarship fund to promote interest in wildlife conservation and related subjects. An annual college scholarship essay contest sponsored by The Bird Dog Foundation, Inc. has been in effect for several years now. This contest was created in the hopes that it would enhance scholarly training and education in wildlife and wildlife conservation as well as give financial aid for tuition the college-bound student. An independent, outside panel of judge(s) selected by The Bird Dog Foundation, Inc. will determine the final winner. Essays will be judged on the following criteria: quality and suitability of content, grammar, originality, depth of research, composition skills and adherence to the contest submission instructions. A copy of the first-place winning essay, the student's name, and high school photo may be considered for publication in a national magazine, and the student's name and possibly his/her photo will be submitted to local newspapers for publication as announcements.

Award Amount: The first-place winner will receive $1,500. The second-place winner will receive $1,000. All awards are offered annually and are non-renewable. The tuition scholarship awards are made payable only to an accredited college, university, or other bonafide institution of the student's choice upon receipt of proof of registration/enrollment at that institution.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,250.
