Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided through the George Tillquist Engineering Scholarship Fund each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a previous graduate of a Ventura County high school.
  2. Must be a college junior or rising junior at the time of application.
  3. Must be majoring in engineering.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: The George Tillquist Engineering Scholarship Fund is for current undergraduate students who have completed at least two years of study and are majoring in engineering. Applicants must be previous graduates of a Ventura County High School who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and unmet financial need.

Additional Information: The George Tillquist Engineering Scholarship Fund is administered through the Ventura County Community Foundation. The award seeks to reward local area high school graduates who have gone on to complete at least two years of undergraduate study in the field of engineering. Applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement and unmet financial need, and additional consideration and preference will be given to students who are majoring in chemical engineering.

Award Amount: Scholarships are provided in the amount of $900 annually and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications for and additional information about the George Tillquist Engineering Scholarship Fund are available online at the Ventura County Community Foundation website. To apply for this scholarship, students must complete all sections of the online application form. Applicants must also submit an original essay in response to the award's topic, as well as two letters of recommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must be submitted by a current faculty member at the school the student is attending. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
