Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be African-American.
  4. Must be a high school senior.
  5. Must reside in New Castle County, Delaware.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  7. Must be active in community service. For this scholarship, community and church service will be considered.
  8. Must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in the fall of the year in which the scholarships are awarded.
  9. Must plan to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to African-American high school seniors who reside in New Castle County, Delaware, and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Students must plan to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU); community and church service will be considered in selection.

Additional Information: To ensure complete impartiality in selection of recipients and to maintain a high level of professionalism, DCF programs are administered by AcademicWorks, a firm that specializes in managing sponsored scholarship programs. All students must have a low to moderate income. An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the recipients considering: extracurricular activities; community involvement; essay content; academic achievements and records; financial need. Decisions of the selection committees are final and are not subject to appeal. No application feedback will be given. Notifications are sent to recipients and applicants not selected to receive an award via email by the end of June.

Award Amount: A minimum of $1,000, depending on grade point average and materials submitted. Awardees can reapply. Please note: The award amount is subject to the discretion of the DCF Board of Directors.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
