Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 25 awards offered annually. The number of awards may vary based on available funding. Priority for funding is given to renewal students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for Idaho high school seniors who are graduating from a high school in Idaho and planning to enroll in an eligible postsecondary educational institution in Idaho. Students must have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher. High consideration for selection is given to students with a demonstrated commitment to public service.

  • Public service resume
Additional Information: As established by Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter, the purpose of the Idaho Governor's Cup Scholarship is to provide scholarships that recognize outstanding Idaho students and encourage them to pursue their secondary education in an Idaho institution. Awards will be available for students pursuing either an academic or professional/technical education program. Funding for the Idaho Governor's Cup Scholarship is provided by private contributions, in conjunction with proceeds from an annual event sponsored by the Idaho Governor's Cup Scholarship Fund, Inc. Recipients of the Idaho Governor's Cup Scholarship are selected by a scholarship committee appointed by the Governor in conjunction with the Office of the State Board of Education. A high consideration will be given to the applicant's demonstrated commitment to public service.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years for students pursuing an academic program and up to two additional years for students pursuing a professional-technical program.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $75,000.
