Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a female.
  4. Must enroll full time.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  6. Must be an incoming or current college freshman.
  7. Must major in engineering (any field) or computer science.
  8. Must reside within the following zip code areas: District of Columbia, 200, 202-205; Maryland, 206-212, 214, 216-217; Virginia, 201, 220-223.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. female incoming and current college freshmen who are majoring in engineering or computer science and have grade point averages of 3.5 or higher. Students must reside in the following zip code areas: District of Columbia, 200 or 202-205; Maryland, 206-212, 214, 216-217; Virginia, 201, 220-223.

Application requirements for the SWE Baltimore-Washington Section – Freshman Scholarship are:

  • Acceptance letter (if req.)
  • Resume
  • Recommendation letters (2)
Additional Information: Applicants may not be current recipients of a renewable SWE scholarship or receiving full funding for education from another organization (such as members of the armed services attending US military academies and students receiving full reimbursement from an employer). The applicant must enroll or plan to enroll in a program accredited by ABET. Accreditation status for degree programs at specific schools can be found at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.
