Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be majoring in visual or performing arts.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  3. Must be a minority student.
  4. Must be an undergraduate at the time of application.
  5. Must be a resident of Kent County, Michigan.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for minority undergraduate students who are majoring in visual or performing arts. Applicants must be residents of Kent County, Michigan, and must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: The Grand Rapids Community Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships annually, primarily to Kent County students bound for or in college, or those pursuing a technical career. This award is funded each year by the Arts Council of Greater Grand Rapids to recognize and encourage higher education among local-area visual artists who increase the diversity of the community. Selection will be based on academic achievement, artistic merit, and financial need.

Award Amount: Awards range from $500 to $5,000 depending on the student's unmet need and the availability of funds. Average awards are about $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
