Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, based on the number of qualified students and the amount of funding available. In the previous academic year, approximately 14,000 awards to be disbursed.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Nebraska.
  4. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a participating Nebraska public or private postsecondary institution.
  5. Must be a high school senior or older.
  6. Must be eligible to receive a Federal Pell grant or have an Expected Family Contribution of no more than the yearly maximum EFC, as determined by the State of Nebraska.

Description: This award is available for Nebraska resident undergraduate students who are or planning to attend a Nebraska public or private postsecondary institution. The student must demonstrate financial need and have an Expected Family Contribution of $6,300 or less.

Additional Information: The state of Nebraska provides the Nebraska Opportunity Grant (NOG) - formerly the Nebraska State Grant - to students who meet certain qualifications. Qualifications include being a Nebraska resident, attending a Nebraska postsecondary institution, and having a minimum EFC as determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must be eligible to receive a Federal Pell grant from the United States Department of Education or have an Expected Family Contribution of no more than the yearly maximum EFC for the current award year. For the current year, students must have an EFC of $6,300 or less to be considered.

Award Amount: Award amounts may vary depending funding levels. Average award amounts for the previous academic year was approximately $1,000 aannually. Awards are made annually and may be renewable. Renewability is contingent upon the institution's financial aid policy. Recipients must continue to meet the program requirements and must also re-apply each year. Students should contact the financial aid office at the participating institution for additional information.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,030.
