Description: This award is for U.S. high school juniors and seniors who participate in a mathematical modeling challenge as part of a school-based group.

Application requirements for the MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge are:

Additional Information: The Moody's Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting a variety of nonprofit education, health and human services, civic, and arts and culture programs. Established by Moody's Corporation in 2001, the foundation's primary area of giving is secondary and higher education with a focus on mathematics, economics and finance. After all solution papers have been received by the M3 Challenge headquarters, a panel of mathematicians serving as triage judges read each solution paper, rank each paper according to the competition guidelines, and eliminate all but the most successful submissions. A panel of mathematicians serving as final judges will subsequently calibrate the remaining papers and tentatively rank the winning teams. Please note: Children, grandchildren and siblings of employees, officers, directors, or trustees of either SIAM or The Moody's Foundation are not eligible to participate in Moody's Mega Math Challenge.

Award Amount: One Champion award (Summa Cum Laude Team Prize) at $20,000; One Runner-up award (Magna Cum Laude Team Prize) at $15,000; One Third Place award (Cum Laude Team Prize) at $10,000;and Three Finalist awards (Meritorious Team Prize) at $5,000.Judges may also award approximately 80 honorable mention prizes of between $1,000 and $1,500 each. All awards are made on an annual basis and are non-renewable. Each award is divided equally among team members.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
