Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll as a full-time student.
  4. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an undergraduate course of study.
  5. Must be the spouse or child of an individual who: was killed in the terrorist attacks against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001; died as a result of injuries received in the attack; died as a result of illness caused by exposure to the attack sites; or is missing and officially presumed dead as a result of the attack.
  6. The individual under whom eligibility is established for this scholarship must have been a New Jersey resident.
  7. Eligibility is continued for eight years from the date of the child's high school graduation and eight years from the date of death for the spouse.

Additional Information: This scholarship benefits dependent children and surviving spouses of New Jersey residents who were killed in or who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001. Recipients may attend any Title IV-eligible college or university in New Jersey or out-of-state. Those incurring the full-time cost of attendance at an eligible institution, having lost the financial resources of a parent or spouse, are deemed to have financial need.

Award Amount: The WTC Board sets the amount of the scholarship each summer for the next academic year. The scholarship amount cannot exceed the actual tuition, fees, room and board charged. Scholarship amounts may change as a result of changes in program funding and student's other available financial assistance.The maximum number of payments is eight semesters for a regular four-year degree program and five semesters for a regular two-year degree program.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,600.
