Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior at time of application. The student must be in a position to accept the scholarship for the school year in which it is being awarded.
  3. Must be a female.
  4. Must major in engineering (any field).
  5. Must attend or plan to attend one of the following New Mexico institutions: New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, New Mexico State University, or University of New Mexico.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  8. Must enroll full time.
  9. Must be a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for female undergraduate students attending an engineering program at selected New Mexico universities. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and be members of SWE.

Application requirements for the SWE Central New Mexico – Pioneers Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • College acceptance letter
  • Resume
Additional Information: The availability of the scholarship is dependent upon renewals. Applicants may not be current recipients of a renewable SWE scholarship or receiving full funding for education from another organization (such as members of the armed services attending US military academies and students receiving full reimbursement from an employer.) The applicant must enroll or plan to enroll in a computer science or engineering program accredited by ABET. Applicants must be enrolled in a program accredited by ABET. Accreditation information for specific programs is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for up to three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
