Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year.
  4. Must be pursuing a degree in environmental sciences or environmental education.
  5. Must have maintained a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  6. Must attend a community college in North Carolina.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. students who are pursuing a degree in environmental sciences or environmental education at a community college in North Carolina during the upcoming academic year. Students must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

Application requirements for the Carol Bond Fund Community College Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Essay
  • Official Transcript
  • Acad. Advisor Cert.
Additional Information: Preference will be given to students who are members of a student chapter of NC AWWA-WEA. The NC AWWA-WEA Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate each application carefully and consider the following criteria: the quality and completeness of the application; the qualifications of the applicant; the content of the essay; recommendation of instructors; and other information requested in the application. Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, creed, color, sex, age or national origin. Letters of notification will be mailed to all applicants by June 20. If notification of the decision has not been received by July 1, the student should contact the NC AWWA-WEA. The student must not be related to scholarship sponsors nor employed by such sponsors and not an employee of nor related to officer or director of NC AWWA-WEA, nor to any member of the Endowment Committee.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. A student who is awarded a scholarship is eligible to apply each year for any scholarship funded by The Carol Bond Fund and designated for community college students. The award recipient will qualify for free registration for the Annual NC AWWA-WEA Conference each year in which he/she is awarded scholarship.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
