In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors who are 4-H members and residents of Cleveland or Gaston counties in North Carolina. Students must plan to attend an institution of higher education in North Carolina.

Application requirements for the Frank and Elizabeth Spencer 4-H Scholarship for Cleveland and Gaston Counties are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Photograph
  • Test scores
  • Resume
Additional Information: Please note: All eligible students must have filed an application for admission to at least one institution of higher learning, and must arrange for and take the SAT and/or ACT. It is the student's responsibility to make all arrangements for college admissions. Selection will be based on the following: 4-H record (50 percent); scholastic achievement as measured by performance in high school courses (25 percent); and college aptitude as measured by performance on college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT (25 percent). Recipients will be selected in March. Recipients must attend the 4-H Scholarships and Awards Luncheon held during the N.C. 4-H Congress. Recipients may be required to attend the CALS Donor Recognition Event in the fall.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. All 4-H scholarships will be paid directly to the college or university. They will not be made payable to the recipient nor his/her parents.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
