Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must enroll in animal science, pre-veterinary studies, or agricultural studies.
  3. Must plan to attend North Carolina State University.
  4. Must be a resident of North Carolina.
  5. Must plan to enroll full time.
  6. Must be a member of 4-H.
  7. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  8. Must have an outstanding swine record or live on a farm where swine production is a commercial or purebred enterprise.

Description: This scholarship is available for North Carolina high school seniors who are 4-H members and plan to attend North Carolina State University. Students must be enrolled in animal science, pre-veterinary studies, or agricultural studies, and have an outstanding swine record or live on a farm where swine production is a commercial or purebred enterprise.

Additional Information: Please note: All eligible students must have filed an application for admission to at least one institution of higher learning, and must arrange for and take the SAT and/or ACT. It is the student's responsibility to make all arrangements for college admissions. Selection will be based on the following: 4-H record (50 percent); scholastic achievement as measured by performance in high school courses (25 percent); and college aptitude as measured by performance on college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT (25 percent). Recipients will be selected in March. Recipients must attend the 4-H Scholarships and Awards Luncheon held during the N.C. 4-H Congress. Recipients may be required to attend the CALS Donor Recognition Event in the fall.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for three additional years at $1,000 if a grade point average of 2.5 or higher is maintained. All 4-H scholarships will be paid directly to the college or university. They will not be made payable to the recipient nor his/her parents.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
