Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to enroll at any accredited institution of higher learning in North Carolina.
  3. Preference goes first to applicants from Mitchell County, North Carolina. If no qualified applicants are available, then preference goes to applicants in the western district of North Carolina. For district information, see www.ces.ncsu.edu/local-county-center/ .
  4. Must plan to enroll or be enrolled full time.
  5. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student. Incoming freshmen are given first preference; in the event no freshman is eligible, an upperclassman may be awarded this scholarship.
  6. Must be a 4-H member.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate 4-H members who are attending an institution in North Carolina. First preference goes to applicants from Mitchell County, NC; in the event there are no qualified applicants, the scholarship will be given to residents of North Carolina's western district. First preference also goes to freshman students; in the event that no freshman is eligible, an upperclassman may be awarded the scholarship.

Additional Information: Please note: All eligible students must have filed an application for admission to at least one institution of higher learning, and must arrange for and take the SAT and/or ACT. It is the student's responsibility to make all arrangements for college admissions. Selection will be based on the following: 4-H record (50 percent); scholastic achievement as measured by performance in high school courses (25 percent); and college aptitude as measured by performance on college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT (25 percent). Recipients will be selected in March. Recipients must attend the 4-H Scholarships and Awards Luncheon held during the N.C. 4-H Congress. Recipients may be required to attend the CALS Donor Recognition Event in the fall.

Award Amount: $600 annually, non-renewable. All 4-H scholarships will be paid directly to the college or university. They will not be made payable to the recipient nor his/her parents.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $600.
