Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior.
  3. Must attend any accredited institution of higher learning in North Carolina.
  4. Must be from Currituck County, North Carolina. *Please note: If there are no applicants from Currituck County, the award may be given to a member from the northeast district of North Carolina. For district information, visit www.ces.ncsu.edu/local-county-center/.
  5. Must be a 4-H member.
  6. Must enroll full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for North Carolina high school seniors who are 4-H members and residents of Currituck County, NC. If there are no applicants from Currituck County, the award may be given to a member from the Northeast District of North Carolina. Students must plan to attend an institution of higher education in North Carolina in the fall of the year that they apply for the scholarship.

Application requirements for the William Edmond Sawyer 4-H Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letters (2)
Additional Information: Please note: All eligible students must have filed an application for admission to at least one institution of higher learning, and must arrange for and take the SAT and/or ACT. It is the student's responsibility to make all arrangements for college admissions. Selection will be based on the following: 4-H record (50 percent); scholastic achievement as measured by performance in high school courses (25 percent); and college aptitude as measured by performance on college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT (25 percent). Recipients will be selected in March. Recipients must attend the 4-H Scholarships and Awards Luncheon held during the N.C. 4-H Congress. Recipients may be required to attend the CALS Donor Recognition Event in the fall.

Award Amount: $600 annually, non-renewable. All 4-H scholarships will be paid directly to the college or university. They will not be made payable to the recipient nor his/her parents.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $600.
