Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a female.
  3. Must be enrolled full time.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior, or a graduate student. The student must be in a position to accept the scholarship for the school year in which it is being awarded.
  6. Must major in engineering or computer science.
  7. Must be a member of SWE.
  8. Must attend a college or university with an active SWE chapter within the Region G area (Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and the western half of Pennsylvania). A list of collegiate sections in Region G is available online at regiong.swe.org/sections-in-region-g.html.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to female undergraduate and graduate students who are members of SWE and majoring in engineering or computer science. Students must attend a college/university with an active SWE chapter in the Region G area.

Application requirements for the SWE Judy Simmons Memorial Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Acceptance letter (if req.)
  • Resume
Additional Information: Applicants may not be current recipients of a renewable SWE scholarship or receiving full funding for education from another organization (such as members of the armed services attending US military academies and students receiving full reimbursement from an employer). The applicant must enroll or plan to enroll in a program accredited by ABET. Accreditation status for degree programs at specific schools can be found at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.
