Number of Awards & Eligibility: Seven awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must be a resident of one of the following northernmost Texas counties: Wheeler, Roberts, Gray, Hemphill, Ochiltree or Lipscomb.
  4. Must plan to attend Clarendon College, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, West Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, Frank Phillips College or Amarillo College.
  5. Must major in agriculture at Carendon College, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Texas Tech University, or West Texas A&M University OR major in human sciences at Texas Tech University. There are no restrictions on major for students at Amarillo College or Frank Phillips College.
  6. Must have a high school grade point average of 80 (3.2) or higher, and maintain a college grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  7. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  8. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors with a grade point average of 3.2 or higher who are residents of Wheeler, Roberts, Gray, Hemphill, Ochiltree, or Limpscomb counties are eligible for this award. Students must enroll full time in an agriculture degree at Clarendon College, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, West Texas A&M University, or Texas Tech University. Human Science students must enroll full time at Texas Tech University. Students attending Amarillo College or Frank Phillips College must enroll full time.

Application requirements for the Malouf and Iris Abraham Scholarship Fund are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • IRS 1040 Form
  • ACT/SAT scores
Additional Information: These scholarships were established by the late Malouf and Iris Abraham of Canadian, Texas, who during their lifetimes were know as 'living giving legends.' Students must exhibit character, leadership and financial need. Recipients are selected by the Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship Screening Committee. Recipients studying at Frank Phillips College or Amarillo College are not restricted to study a certain field. Those attending Clarendon College, Oklahoma Panhandle State University or West Texas A&M University are restricted to study in the Department/College/School of Agriculture. Texas Tech University students may participate in either the College of Agriculture or the College of Human Sciences.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.Awards are renewable pending committee review of each applicant's renewal application.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,000.
