In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a re-entry student. Eligibility is restricted to individuals who have been out of school for a minimum of two years prior to re-entry.
  4. Must plan to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
  5. Must be pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
  6. Must plan to major in computer science or software engineering.

Description: This scholarship is open to re-entry students (i.e., those who have been out of school for two or more years) who plan to major in computer science or software engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Application requirements for the UW-Eau Claire Karlgaard Computer Science Scholarship – Re-entry Students are:

Additional Information: Preference will be given to graduates of Rice Lake and Viroqua high schools in Wisconsin, if qualified applicants are available from those areas. The Department of Computer Science Scholarship Committee will select recipients. Recipients will be notified in June. All Karlgaard scholars are expected to make satisfactory progress toward a degree in computer science or software engineering and maintain an overall grade point average of 3.3 or better. They must also collaborate with a UW-Eau Claire computer science faculty member to produce at least one scholarly publication and/or formal presentation external to UW-Eau Claire in each of the junior and senior years, giving proper recognition to UW-Eau Claire and to the Karlgaard Computer Science Scholarship Foundation.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, renewable until degree completion.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.
