Additional Information: The American Traffic Safety Services Foundation Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program provides financial assistance for post-high school education to the children of roadway workers killed or permanently disabled in work zones, including mobile operations and the installation of roadway safety features. Each application will be judged by the following criteria: the applicant's past academic performance record of high school grades (for an applicant already attending an institution of higher learning, his/her cumulative college grade point average and academic performance will be considered); the applicant's written statement that explains his/her reasons for wanting to continue his/her education; the applicant's demonstrated need for financial assistance for continuing education, based on a completed FAFSA; and the views expressed in letters of recommendation that are provided in support of the applicant's nomination.

Award Amount: This program is competitive and has a value of up to $10,000. Applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to volunteerism may be eligible to receive an additional $1,000 in honor of Chuck Bailey, who was an esteemed member of the roadway safety industry who passed away in June 2002.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
