Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll full time.
  5. Must be African American, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian (includes Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian).
  6. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a program of study leading to a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or other chemically-related science, OR be enrolled in a program of study leading to an associate's degree in chemical technology. The student must also be planning to pursue a career in the chemical sciences.
  7. Must be a high school senior; current college freshman, sophomore, or junior; or current community college student pursuing a two-year degree or planning to transfer to a four-year university.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. high school senior and undergraduate minority students who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and plan to enroll full time are eligible for this award. Students must be planning to pursue a career in the chemical sciences and majoring in an appropriate chemical science field.

Additional Information: The Selection Committee reviews all applications to determine the best overall applicants. The highest-rated students are selected as scholarship recipients. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic record, career objective, financial need, leadership ability, participation in school activities, and community service. All candidates who submit complete applications, including financial documentation, are notified of their status in early June. Scholarship funds are sent to the financial aid offices at the recipient's college or university. Checks are issued twice yearly - July and December - and made payable to the award recipient and the school. Please note: Students intending to enter pre-med programs or pursuing a degree in pharmacy are not eligible for this scholarship.

Award Amount: Award amounts are given annually as follows: $2,500 for freshmen; $3,000 for sophomores; $5,000 for juniors and seniors. Awards are renewable each year.Please note: The amount of each individual award will depend upon the availability of funding and the number of scholarships awarded.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
