Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must have participated in activities in the United States and be planning to enroll in an accredited program in the United States in order to apply. There is a strong preference to award grants to students who are planning on staying in the United States and building the progressive movement there.
  3. Must be a student activist who is involved in building the progressive movement for social and economic justice. Recent grantees have been active in the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression; building the movement for economic justice; and creating peace through international, anti-imperialist solidarity. Students must be currently active in eligible activities at the time of application.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in college at the undergraduate or graduate levels at time of application.

Additional Information: The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund aids people active in movements for social and economic justice. The scholarships are awarded based on financial need and to students demonstrating activism in the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia and/or other forms of oppression; building a movement for economic justice; and creating peace through international anti-imperialist solidarity. Award Amount: Up to $15,000 per year  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $60,000.
