In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. college sophomores, juniors and seniors who are majoring in horticulture or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants whose career goals involve teaching/research or work in the public or nonprofit sector, such as public gardens, botanical gardens, parks, arboreta, city planning, or public education and awareness.

Application requirements for the Frances Sylvia Zverina Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letters (3)
  • Essay
Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate financial need. The applicant may be attending an accredited college or university anywhere in the United States. A qualified student may apply for both the Frances Sylvia Zverina and the Western Reserve Herb Society Scholarships; however, he/she may only be the recipient of one scholarship. To apply for both scholarships, the applicant need only submit one application and be sure to check the appropriate box to indicate that he/she would like to be considered for both programs.

Award Amount: $12,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,500.
