Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, 12 scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 at time of application.
  3. Must be a young adult cancer survivor or patient.
  4. Must attending or planning to attend an accredited college, university or vocational institution in pursuit of an associates, bachelors, masters, doctorate or certificate as of the fall of 2010.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate and graduate students who are cancer survivors. Students must be between 18 and 35 years of age.

Application requirements for the National Collegiate Cancer Foundation Survivor Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Resume or list of awards
Additional Information: The National Collegiate Cancer Foundation established this scholarship program to provide financial support to college students whose lives have been impacted by cancer and are seeking to continue their higher education while still undergoing treatment. The student will be evaluated based on the following four criteria: displaying a 'will win' attitude with respect to his/her cancer experience; quality of essays; financial need; overall story of cancer survivorship; commitment to education; and quality of recommendations. Applicants will be notified by July 1.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year that they are eligible.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
