Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three scholarships offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be 13 to 21 years of age.
  3. Must complete an environmental project.
  4. Must be a candidate for a degree/diploma at a primary (middle school), secondary (high school), or accredited postsecondary (undergraduate at college or university) institution.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: International and U.S. students at any level of undergraduate study are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students must be 13 to 21 years of age and complete an environmental project.

Application requirements for the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Enviromental project
  • Photographs
  • Registration
Additional Information: Judging criteria for environmental projects includes: hours volunteered, number of participants, project results, size of project area, and project essay. The age of the student(s) will be taken into account when judging projects.

Award Amount: The author of the top Apprentice Ecologist essay will receive an $850 scholarship; the scholarship is awarded annually and is non-renewable. The authors of the top ten essays will each receive a large canvas tote bag (made in the U.S.A. with 100 percent certified organic cotton) printed with the Nicodemus Wilderness Project's logo.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $850.
