Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided each year.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The Alex O. Santillanes Scholarship is available for Hispanic high school seniors in the Yakima Valley area of Washington State. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Alex O. Santillanes Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The Community Foundation of North Central Washington administers more than one hundred scholarships for students residing throughout Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties. Applicants for the Alex O. Santillanes Scholarship must be Hispanic students attending high school in Yakima Valley (A.C. Davis, East Valley, Eisenhower, West Valley, or Yakima Valley Tech). The selection of scholarship recipients is based primarily on a combination of academic achievements, strength of recommendations, and unmet fianncial need as calculated by the applicant's expected financial contribution. Additional consideration will be given to students affected by a history of cultural, social and economic inequities, especially students who have ever resided in a single parent family and/or the applicant’s parents did not complete high school. Recipients will be notified in early May and will be required to provide additional documentation such as a signed scholarship agreement and verification of enrollment.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable. All funds will be deposited directly with the school of the recipient's choice.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.
