Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, 91 awards were given.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a legal resident of California.
  3. Must attend or plan to attend a college, university, or technical school in California.
  4. Must major in nursing.
  5. Must enroll for six units or more per semester in an accredited college, university, or technical school.
  6. Must be accepted to or be currently enrolled in an associate's degree nursing program. Priority will be given to students who will be graduating within one to two years.
  7. Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for California residents who are college freshmen or sophomores attending a college/university in the state of California. Students must be majoring in nursing, and have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Recipients must graduate after June 30 of the award year. Recipients of this award must complete a two-year service obligation to practice in a medically underserved area of California as a registered nurse providing full-time (32 hours per week) direct patient care. Program recipients are required to complete their service obligation in a medically underserved area or facility. If the recipient does not successfully fulfill this contractual obligation, he/she will be required to repay all scholarships or loan repayments received, plus 10 percent interest and $250 administrative fees. Selection for the awards is based on the following criteria: counties most in need of registered nurses, work experience, financial need, career goals, cultural/linguistic skills and abilities, community service, community background, and academic performance. Priority is given to applicants whose community background and commitment indicates the likelihood of long-term employment in a medically underserved area even after the service obligation has ended.

Award Amount: Up to $10,000 annually, non-renewable. The student's graduation date may affect the amount of funding he/she is eligible to receive. Funding is intended to pay tuition, required fees, books, supplies, and educational equipment costs related to the student's registered nurse or pre-nursing education.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
