Description: The Catherine M. Newman Memorial Scholarship Fund is available for high school seniors and undergraduate students who have completed less than 48 credit hours. Additional Information: The Catherine M. Newman Memorial Scholarship Fund is provided annually in honor of Catherine Newman, her love of science and writing, and her dedication to higher education. Applicants must attend a public university in the state of Arizona, must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and must demonstrate unmet financial need. Additional preference will be given to students who are majoring in science, mathematics, or writing, as well as students who have a strong record of community service and involvement. The Arizona Community Foundation provides scholarships for high school seniors and current college students throughout Arizona. Selection for awards is based primarily on academic records, financial need (as demonstrated by the FAFSA paperwork), and the quality of other submission items such as essays and recommendation letters.

Award Amount: Award amounts vary, but are typically in the range of $1,000 per year. Although the award is not renewable, previous recipients are eligible to re-apply and may receive priority for future awards.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
