Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually. Approximately one award was provided last year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Maricopa County, Arizona.
  2. Must attend a community college in Maricopa County.
  3. Must be a non-traditional student returning to school as an adult.
  4. Must have one or more dependents.

Description: The Doughton Scholarship is available for adult re-entry students who have at least one dependent. Applicants must attend a community college in Maricopa County.

Application requirements for the Doughton Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • FAFSA
  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: The Doughton Scholarship is provided annually to advance the educational goals of adult re-entry students in Maricopa County. Applicants must attend any Maricopa Community College on a part-time basis and must have one or more dependents. The Arizona Community Foundation provides scholarships for high school seniors and current college students throughout Arizona. Selection for awards is based primarily on academic records, financial need (as demonstrated by the FAFSA paperwork), and the quality of other submission items such as essays and recommendation letters.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous recipients are eligible to re-apply and may receive priority for future awards.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
