Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Vermont.
  4. Must be a high school senior who will earn a diploma or GED by the start of the upcoming school year.
  5. Must enroll on a half-time (six credits per term) basis or higher.
  6. Must seek an undergraduate degree in environmental studies or special education.
  7. Must demonstrate community involvement and/or service.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to Vermont high school seniors who are seeking a degree in environmental studies or special education. Students must demonstrate financial need and community involvement and/or service.

Additional Information: This scholarship was created to honor the entire Stafford family by providing financial support to a student who demonstrates strong financial need and a commitment to a career in environmental studies or special education, and who shows deep compassion and enthusiasm for making the world a better place. Please note: This scholarship is funded by an endowment subject to laws restricting disbursements under certain investment yield scenarios; as a result, there can be no guarantee of a scholarship award for the upcoming academic year. Selection is based on financial need and application documents. There are approximately 100 applicants for this award each year.
