In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for high school seniors who reside in certain counties of Minnesota with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and demonstrate critical financial need.

Additional Information: The Horatio Alger Minnesota Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students in the state of Minnesota who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education. The award is funded through the generosity of the Horatio Alger Endowment Fund. Student may begin his/her studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution. The applicant must also plan to enter college no later than the fall following high school graduation. Each applicant must demonstrate involvement in co-curricular and community activities. Scholarship recipients will be announced in January.

Award Amount: The total value of this award is $10,000 paid out in installments annually. If the student receives this award he/she is guaranteed the funding for the full 5 years of his/her undergraduate program by maintaining a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. This award is non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
