In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Monroe County, TN.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must plan to enroll on a full time basis.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors in Monroe County, TN who are planning to attend a non-profit college or university in the state. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: This scholarship fund was established in 1999 by John Grubb and Louise Sumner to provide scholarships to deserving and talented local area students. Preference will be given to applicants planning to attend school in Tennessee and work in the East Tennessee area following graduation. Factors to be considered by the selection committee will be: financial need; general aptitude for advanced educational work; evidence of participation in and service to the community; and the maturity and professionalism of the student, in that order of importance. The selection committee reserves the right to conduct brief interviews with finalists.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years so long as the student maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,000.
