In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Maryland.
  3. Must enroll full-time or part-time.
  4. Must attend an eligible college, university or private school in Maryland.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must be a high school senior or older.

Award Amount: Award amounts range from $200 to $11,250 annually and are non-renewable. The total dollar amount of all State scholarship awards may not exceed your cost of attendance as determined by your college’s financial aid office or $19,000, whichever is less.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $11,250.

Additional information about this program is available from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) website. To apply, interested students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The FAFSA must be completed as soon as possible after January 1 and filed by March 1 for award consideration for the award year. Students must also contact his/her county delegate for further instructions. Each delegate may require students to submit additional forms and processes before eligibility can be determined. A list of all State legislators can be found on the Maryland Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) website at: www.mdelect.net/.
