Making Education the Answer (META)

Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to twenty awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a Hispanic student.
  2. Must be accepted to or enrolled at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must have a household income of approximately 60% of the local median income.
  7. Must reside in Southern California.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Hispanic high school seniors residing in Southern California who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need.

  • Official Transcript
  • Student Aid Report
  • Copy of Current Tax Returns
Additional Information: META is a nonprofit organization providing mentorship and scholarships to Hispanic youth in Southern California with the vision of increasing the opportunities available to Hispanic students who wish to become future business and community leaders.

Award Amount: Scholar awards are one-time $500 awards that are not automatically renewable. Four-Year Scholarship awards are provided in annual increments of $1,500, renewable over an additional three years of study.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,200.

Applications and information about this award will be available on the Making Education The Answer (META) Foundation website using the link provided. In addition to the completed application form, students must also submit the following items: a letter of recommendation; a copy of his/her family's most recent tax returns; official copies of the student's transcripts, sent directly from the school to the listed address; and a copy of the student's most recent Student Aid Report. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
