Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  4. Must be a graduating senior of Nitro High School, West Virginia.
  5. Must be a resident of West Virginia.
  6. Must be a full-time student (12 credit hours or more).
  7. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  8. Must have an ACT score of 20 or higher.

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Tax return
Additional Information: Students may only receive one scholarship per year from TGKVF. The applicant will be notified by TGKVF by May 15. The foundation will mail the full amount of the award in August. It is applied to the entire academic year. The check is payable jointly to the recipient and the college, but is mailed directly to the recipient. Any student who withdraws from school for any reason will be expected to notify the foundation of his/her status and refund any unused, refundable portion of the scholarship. In addition to other requirements, the applicant must also demonstrate: good moral character, a sense of loyalty to family and friends, academic performance, an ability to set attainable goals, being respected by his/her peers, and school spirit.

Award Amount: $1,700 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,700.
