Number of Awards & Eligibility: Ten to fifteen awards offered annually. Last year, 11 awards were offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a Native American.
  3. Must be pursuing a career in radio, television, or print (newspaper) journalism.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

Description: This scholarship is available for Native American high school seniors and college students who are pursuing a career in radio, television, or print journalism. Students must be members of NAJA to apply.

Application requirements for the NAJA Scholarship Fund are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letters (3)
  • Personal statement
  • FAFSA required
  • Cover letter
  • Finance report
  • Enrollment
  • Samples
Additional Information: Applicants must become a member of NAJA prior to application if not already a member. Membership is $10 for high school students and $20 for college students.

Award Amount: $500 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $50,000.
