Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior.
  4. Must graduate from a high school in Florida.
  5. Must plan to attend Santa Fe College.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  7. Must plan to become a teacher in Florida.
  8. Must plan to enroll in 12 or more credit hours.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors who are graduating from a high school in Florida and plan to attend Santa Fe College. Students must plan to become a teacher in Florida, and must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: In 1991 when one of the College's long-time mathematics instructors, Dr. Bruce P. Walek passed away, Santa Fe College staff members, family and friends established this scholarship program as a memorial to Dr. Walek. Students may apply for a maximum of three scholarships as long as they meet the established criteria. Students can receive only one scholarship award per academic year. Scholarships are applied to the academic year awarded. Scholarships are non-transferable. A thank-you note to the scholarship donor must be received before the award is posted to the student's account.

Award Amount: $1,600 annually, renewable for one additional year if the recipient maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. The scholarship is awarded in equal installments for fall and spring terms.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,800.
